At the Diakonhjemmet Hospital, Oslo, there are two doctoral positions available for structural brain imaging studies integrated in the TOP-Study (Thematically Organized Psychosis Research (http://www.med.uio.no/forskning/tematisk/top/).The project is funded by the Helse SørØst HF. The goal is to study the longitudinal development of brain structure in severe psychiatric diseases and the interaction with clinical course of development, genes, and brain function in the pathology of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. The TOP project is a multicenter study involving all psychiatric hospital departments in Oslo and several research groups at the University of Oslo. The TOP study group has used their infrastructure for clinical evaluations, neuropsychological testing, MRI brain imaging and biobanking to collect a large data set.Doctoral studentsThe doctoral students will participate in TOP Study Group training and educational activities, be active in clinical characterization of patients and develop his/her own doctoral project within the following framework: 1) investigate for short or long-term effects of medication on brain, and 2) study early trauma/obstetric complications in early onset psychosis, specifically.QualificationsApplicants should have a background in psychiatry, psychology, child psychiatry or equivalent.We presume that all applicants have basic computer skills.For positions where Norwegian law requires authorisation, the applicant is required to submit documentation before accepting the position.Job descriptionThe postdoctoral and doctoral students will work at the Department of Psychiatry, Diakonhjemmet Hospital, in collaboration with UiO,and Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Section for Psychosis Research at Oslo University Hospital at Ullevål.
